I think a lot of people do. I personally don't.
Please, Don't feel alone, Penguin Boi.
I miss feeling unsettled reading these.
For their campiness and originality? Yes.
For their actual spook factor? Honestly, the new stories have most of those old ones beat in that department by a long shot (with a few exceptions.)
There was an edgy, cheesy campiness to them that i miss. Personally i think too many people are taking creepypasta too seriously like they're writing the next tale of two cities or some shit. I want more people to have fun with their work
After a point that original campiness stopped being the goal of said camp writers as well. In truth while some authors wanted to legitimize creepypasta as a form of horror, and did so by pumping out novelettes and books and such, eating the Creepypasta wick at the other end was a brand of writers who just wanted to capitalized on the former glory of iconic pastas while ignoring what it was that made them so iconic.
If we want a creepypasta revival of any sort, we need to Recontextualize pastas under the new technological and societal advances we made instead of basing everything in technology and culture that existed ten years ago, while also adapting elements from older work into the new.
In short, the last pasta that really took me back without me caring for quality was Mereana Mordegard. And thats because it truly was an OG work that set a precedent, while also being a modern interpretation of things like cursed paintings, chimes etc
I miss some of the old ones because they were stupid and fun to read. Scary? No. Funny? Yes. Now almost all the stories are all the same and extremely pretentious. Some are good though. I think a lot of old and new ones are pretentious.
You know what? I think I'll write some silly stories and post them on the site.
What do you think?
