People who really like creepypastas and enjoy making good stories, are you mad or frustrated at the children who ruin or taint the fandom by making it their whole personality and life?

Yeah, lately I've been seeing a flood of pre-teens on here who are all like "Look at my new OC uwu" or something like that. It makes me roll my eyes -- I don't mean to be mean about it or judge anyone who does that, it's just that some of these kids have been turning creepypasta into a sort of "weeb" culture and lifestyle and that really isn't what creepypasta is supposed to be about. Creepypasta is supposed to be scary -- not a place for a bunch of 12 year olds to gush about their art.
@Toast Child the older stories are most definitely not better. There are a select few that have aged pretty well, but the rest are laughable by today's standards and would most likely be deleted/ignored if they were uploaded now.
The only reason a lot of the older stories still somehow cling to relevance is because of the aforementioned pre-teen community that latch on to the characters. If you're writing a horror story, then success is no indicator of quality when most of your audience have barely started going through puberty.
Exactly. In terms of writing quality a lot of the so-called classics just don't hold up. They're really only relevant nowadays because of the community of edgy 12-year-old girls who are just discovering them for the first time.
Definitely. Whenever I mention creepypasta, I'm immediately met with "so you love Jeff the Killer?" or "That fandom is super problematic." I'm not exaggerating, those things have been said to me. I am not in love with a fictional murderer. I just want to read scary ghost stories people!
Same here. I think JTK is extremely overrated, and not even remotely good writing. I don't even have it saved in my personal archive of creepypastas just because I don't consider it worthy. I got into creepypasta because I'm a big fan of horror -- I want to be scared, unnerved, and even enchanted by good horror writing. I didn't come here to gush over someone's cookie-cutter Jeff The Killer OC. Sadly, it's just a case of an entire fandom being tarnished by a particular group within it. As I mentioned in my other post, I think the FNAF fandom and other horror-based fandoms have suffered the same fate, just because they attract a lot of kids who aren't mature enough to get the point.
@CrazyCreodont I used to be in the Danganronpa fandom, and only left because of the insufferable people there. It's supposed to be a horror/murder mystery game, and yet we have "If you like Nagito you suffer from childhood trauma and also trigger warning for airplanes"
I never got involved with the game itself, but I can imagine the nature of the fandom. It's just immature people missing the main point. But I wish they could do that kind of stuff on their own sites rather than clogging up the Creepypasta Wiki with it and annoying serious horror fans.
Danganrompa is a decent series imo but its the fans who ruin it by warping others views of characters
Really kills the motivation to work when I see that shitty OCs/Jeff posts/Slenderman posts/etc get swarms of attention while the better stories end up ignored and buried.
Maybe the medium is doomed to end up this way, because we certainly can't revert back to the days of posting things on /x/ and having it gain traction.
I know, it's an unfortunate fact that the genre/community has become oversaturated with that kind of posting. Just goes to show the low level of maturity that many members of the community have. Of course, we shouldn't let it stop us from enjoying the real point of creepypasta -- reading and writing fantastic short horror stories.
What do you think?
