Okay, before you say anything, I know this is mostly "for children", and that "most of these classic tales were more for adults" I suppose... However, there is one part which was toned down: Big Goat Gruff and the Troll.
When the Troll confronted the oldest goat, the goat quoted:
"Well come along! I got two spears, and I'll poke your eyeballs out at your ears; I've got besides two curly stones, and I'll crush you bits, body and bones."
He LITTERALY killed the troll in the most gory way possible! He actually poked his eyeballs out of his ears and stomped this troll to bits! I can see why the story was toned down in later incarnations, but it's interesting when you go back to classic tales and see how messed up they actually are if you look up for the original version.
If you want to read the original version of the Norwegian tale, I have a link here!
