Sure, we're a community. We should work something out. We did. For the main site the chat has shutdown. The users have migrated to the other two wikis, most recently Spinpasta, which has the same basic rules Skelly has made as a draft if chat does happen to come back; which at this, albeit early, point, seems unlikely to happen. There are a few bumps here and there, but so far everything on all three sites has been better. Spinpasta's gotten an influx of actvity, as did Trollpasta and this site benefitted from being cleaner of drama and dick and fart jokes.
Quite frankly, how about we looks at the benefits and risks of not having versus having a chat and quit playing the blame game for who caused chat's problems? That seems like the more sensible approach to me.
Callie, that's what we ARE doing. You made the threads. This is a thread dedicated to the benefits, that's why we're not listing the bad points here.
Sure, chat does get empty sometimes, but it is a place we are used to.
I can also argue with that reason, but as I said at the beginning that's not the point of the thread. The only reason I'm bringing it up (it's not a passive-aggressive, let-me-sneak-in-a-shot move) is so no one in the future goes, "Um, Guy said this reason for wanting chat was perfect, so why are we still talking about it."
Yeah. Basically, we all have history here and don't want it gone, put simply.
No, I did not. I say it is everyone's fault.
And so what if people thing you are an asshole for closing a thread that is causing drama?
I'm sorry for putting those words in your mouth.
As for the last point, it's not about being thought of as an asshole. That stuff doesn't help the situation (on the chat side, I've been called so much worse by users on this site, I don't care), but again the problem is things don't get solved. Drama, usually, is an overblown reaction to a legitimate issue. If it doesn't get taken care of, it keeps being a problem and it compounds. There's a problem, people are angry that nobody's doing anything about it, the problem get worse, people become angrier.
The Wolfenmaus debacle is a perfect example. Legitimate issue, not going to fault any one on that, presented by the chat in completely the wrong way, drama threads got closed, a demotion thread got closed. The problem was still there. He did get his modship revoked, but it also happened about an hour before the chat shut down.
I have said before, since I was the one that proposed the chat board, that chat moderators should patrol chat related threads, and before chat was shut down, I was making an effort to do so. If we can make some kind of forum moderator, then that would be that workload off the admin's backs.
It's been tried before with no success, Guy. It ends up completely empty. We want a chat here because at all times in the past there has always been someone on chat to talk to, even when chat is "dead" there is still people there.
Sure, chat does get empty sometimes, but it is a place we are used to.
Because it isn't completely fucking moronic like Trollpasta is, and it isn't strict to the point of banning people just for being there, like has happened at Spinpasta.
Have ya ever been to TPWC, Guy? It gets pretty fucking bad there. Here, we can have a decent conversation and morons are kicked out.
And before you bring up the shit that has happened recently, that is mostly due to people "toeing the line", doing just enough to piss everyone off and cause drama but not do anything ban worthy.
Excuse me, Guy? Did I say it was the admins fault chat is bad?
No, I did not. I say it is everyone's fault.
And so what if people thing you are an asshole for closing a thread that is causing drama?
Please refer to my post on the other thread.
Good day.
Ok, ya know what? I'm going to give my honest opinion here.
You all need to stop. Just stop.
Why do you all keep doing this, hmm? You are all going over the same things over and over again, and getting NOWHERE. AT ALL.
Now, you (the administration) have said that chat will be shut down for 2 months. That's it. Don't go back on that or you'll just look like assholes, ok?
Users, yes, chat has some shitty subjects, but all of you have brought one up at some time or another, so none have a right to complain.
Also, to the admins again, you say your time is taken up by managing chat and chat related issues, right? Know what a simple answer to that is? Close the damn tab and quit complaining. It is up to you to do your job, don't blame chat for "diverting" you from it. Chat related bitch-fit threads? Close them, job done.
If you keep saying chat is a bad thing for this site, IT WILL ALWAYS BE A BAD THING, BECAUSE YOU MAKE IT A BAD THING.
No, because you constantly fuck off every friend you have had, and constantly say everyone who has put up with you, who supported you, even me, WHO TRIED TO TALK YOU OUT OF FUCKING SUICIDE ONCE, IS PLOTTING AGAINST YOU!!
No. I will not miss you after all this. Just fucking leave if you're going to, I don't give a shit.
Support - both of these points.
On a side note, I have been saying we have a problem with timezones for over a year now, why the EVERLOVING FUCK are people just noticing now?!
GnomeClaw wrote: Can I request that less than 2 month old users votes do not count on this thing? I think it should be like that because they don't know the moderators well, and even more, they're still really new to the chat, so they'll just do a bandwagon of following other users, this is just a suggestion and I hope you think about it, bye bye :3
I must respectfully disagree to this. I just joined the other day, and I must say I already have at least a slight idea on many of the moderators, enough to make my own decisions at least. And while I do not plan on voting, I believe there will be many newer members that do. This would not be a fair thing, because only allowing older members would not be a sample of everyone's opinion, it would only be a sample of a select group to represent everyone.
To be honest, I think the problem he is getting at is a lot of the new users will critisise a mod because they banned them for breaking the rules, something which has happened many times before. That's just my opinion, though. Dunno if it'll happen.
Yeah, you do have a point. In big threads like this one, bandwagoning of people who have no idea what they are voting for or against is quite a large problem.
I'm gonna make sure to share this in as many places as I can, to make sure people see this.
I know, right?
I was expecting "OH NU! Y U SHUT CHAT DOEN, Y BICH! ITS SO FUUUUN!!!111!1"
I think a Zelda argument was the last thing we were ALL expecting...
That was the joke he was making.
He was taking advantage of the misconception that Link is Zelda, and that the names of video game protagonists are sometimes in the titles of the games themselves.
So no. Link is a guy. Zelda is a girl. Link's name is not Zelda, for, Link is not a Princess. Only in a few circumstances can Zelda be considered someone different. Like when she was Tetra, and Sheik.
What Cleric first said was a joke, you read into it WAAAAY too much.

Do you seriously not understnd a joke when you see one?
