Oh, what a relief! Now I finally have the time to finish work on my precious manuscript! Well, even if I have the free time to do so, I guess I still need to motivate myself into actually working. I shouldn’t let my mind wonder. Damn! Staring at a blank screen, only to have it slowly fill with text is quite arduous. Maybe I should get me something to drink to get the creative juices flowing. Yeah, I’ll go get some tea from the fridge.
I hope my favorite cup is washed. Hell, if it isn’t - Ah dammit! Why is there such a mess in the living room, and what’s the deal with this stench? It smells so rotten I can feel my nostrils It must have been the damn dog. I told Honey that keeping a dog inside was asking for trouble. Damn mutt can definitely use a bath right now. I’ll just leave that for Honey. No distractions for me, I need to concentrate on my work.
“Honey, I think the dog needs a bath. Would you mind taking care of it while I work? Thanks.”
Heh, now she can’t blame for not doing it myself. Now to pour me some tea. Hmm, It’s a little more bitter than usual. Oh well. This would taste much better if not for this rotten smell. No matter. I must continue with my work.
Here I am now, before the same screen and no more inspiration than before. And this stench! Now it even penetrates into my workspace. Dammit!
Time continues to pass steadily, and yet I have made no significant progress. I need to focus. I need to finish. I’m so close. But this damn odor is overbearing! Distracting even! Maybe I should step outside for a bit and get some fresh air. No. That would take me away from my work for too long. Some air freshener should nip the problem in the bud. Ah, right, there should be a aerosol can in the bedroom.
It looks like Honey is still asleep in here. My, she has been sleeping quite a lot lately. I guess she is still a little miffed about our last fight. I better keep the noise down. Even this room is not safe from the horrid stench, damn. Honey, you’re a lady - take some pride in that! Now, where did I leave that aerosol can? I don’t see it on our headrest, nor the nightstand. Ah! Right here on the dresser. Now I can mask that terrible smell with some relaxing vanilla. I might as well spray some in here too while I’m at it.
Now that I no longer notice that awful stench, I can finally get some work done. Damn, this is already the third time tonight that I have sat down here. I spent more time telling myself to get work done, rather than actually doing any writing. Procrastination is certainly one tenacious beast to tame. I have no more excuses. I must write.
Amazing, I finally made substantial progress! Well, as substantial as twenty minutes will allow. This is just pathetic, and now it feels as if the vanilla aroma is now fading away. Dammit, I will not be able to continue with my current pace if that disgusting odor were to return! I can already feel the grisly stench slowly readying itself to flood my nostrils. I must persevere until then.
Now, the once pleasant vanilla has returned to the foul odor from before. I can feel the dreadful stench creeping its way in. I know its there, mocking me. It’s targeting me. It waits to envelope me. I will not allow this, no! This damn odor will not get the best of me! I refuse to let it! I will finish my beloved manuscript and mock this rotten stench right back! No matter how pungent, I must remain focused!
The stench has suffocated the room. I can feel its vile fingers making its way up my spine. Its grip is tightening around my neck. Every breath I take has less and less air. There is no spot left that this disgusting stench has yet to touch. The stench wishes to end me!
“Damn smell. Damn smell. Damn smell. Damn smell. Damn smell. Damn smell.”
I can no longer continue. This stench is too much. I am a man, now broken. I must retire for the night before I lose anymore of myself.Maybe Honey can make me feel better.
The damn stench is still present here in our bedroom. I don’t know how Honey was able to deal with it. It has been a long day. I’ll just climb into bed. Maybe Honey will cheer me up.
“Hey, Honey. Wanna have some fun?”
Damn, no response. I guess she she really is still mad about our last fight. What did we even fight about again? It must have been something about the dog. For her to still be mad at me, I must have gone overboard with my yelling. At least I got her to be quiet and let me work in peace.
Dammit to Hell! Even being with Honey can’t get my mind of this rank odor. It penetrates the sheets with no mercy! There is no safe place from it. I must work on my manuscript tomorrow. Enough time has passed, I think it will be safe to hold onto Honey tonight.
Dammit, she still isn’t taking notice of me.
“Honey, you’re as cold as ice. Acknowledge me at least.”
Maybe if the smell is gone tomorrow, I will finally get to finish my precious manuscript.
