Nothing profound, really, just wanted to let you all know. - Zug
I'm a trans woman and I've written stories about gay men before, and a trans woman, though it wasn't very explicit at all.
I am still alive and well, thankfully.
Te is correct, real life has taken my time for writing away from me, but whenever I get some free time I lurk in the shadows on here, however I may get round to catching up with you all soon, perhaps even write something... now isn't that a thought?
I have been summoned out of the Ether! And I was having such a nice slumber...
There's having a bit of fun and then there's committing crimes, this is the latter.
I'm almost jealous of you, Te, you seem to have a cult forming around you.
Hello, everyone, it's me again.
Something we all see on this wiki is the periodic surges of stories that don't meet the Quality Standards.
It can be disheartening to have something you worked on for hours or days get deleted, I can understand that.
But what if I told you there's a place you can upload your draft without worrying about it being deleted, AND you can get feedback on how to improve it?
The writer's workshop is what I'm talking about here.
"But Zug, we already know about the writer's workshop!"
Yes, which I'm getting to, and I'm also aware that this probably has been drilled into you many, many times if you're new here or haven't had much experience writing on here.
But hear me out.
Some of you might feel that putting your story in the Workshop is somehow not as respectable as just uploading it straight away. This is absolutely not the case. I can imagine that after typing up your story, you just want to get it uploaded and that creative drive is hard to stop, however I'd like to remind you that the writer's workshop is utilised by ALL of us, not just new and inexperienced writers.
I've used it, and several of my fellow prolific authors on here use it for their drafts. It absolutely does not say anything about your writing skills if you use the writer's workshop for draft feedback. It's just a deletion free draft feedback tool, that's all.
So if you're hesitant about posting your draft into the workshop for whatever reason, don't be afraid, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing so. There are plenty of users willing to give you feedback on your draft to help you improve.
I hope this helps, keep writing everybody.
I don't want to over guild the Lily so I'll keep it short. Yes you can base off of a true story, but please for the love of all things sacred, do NOT put "this is based on a true story!!!" as your author's note before the story.
It won't enhance or intensify the experience, in fact the only thing making it explicitly clear that it's based on a true story will intensify is the urge for me to not read your story.
I can't tell you how great it is when other users do this. It really helps the mods to have less on their plate when we welcome users and show them the ropes, so good job.
I know, that's my go to choice.
I'm from the UK, born and raised.
Hello everyone, I know I never use the writer's workshop, but shock horror, I am utilising it this time around. I have a draft in there that I'd like to get some feedback on if possible. Thank you all in advance, and I look forward to hearing both the positives and negatives pertaining to it.
I'll even link it here so the lazier folks amongst you have it even easier. You know what they say, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
JTK 2015, Binary DNA, and Teeth.JPG.
ReficulfOtseN.com, Username 666, Generation Loss, Mordecai.
The reasons those are low-quality is because they rely on gore, suicide and death to get their point across, and there's essentially no atmosphere or sense of creepiness. They're hugely cliched and really offer no innovative storytelling.
And the three I listed as being my least favourite are particularly despised by me because they are all either pasta of the month winners/contest winners, and none are worthy of that title, in my opinion. They're contrived and boring, and K banning's JTK 2015 is riddled with purple prose for no justifiable reason, which makes the story look tryhard. It's better than the original JTK, but it's still not that good.
Oh, damn Soda, that's unfortunate to hear, I bid you farewell and good luck in where your life takes you, you'll definitely be missed.
If you take the picture yourself and make no claim to the painting itself then yes it should be fine as long as you only upload the story to places like here where there's a CC license and you're making no money or profit from the image.
Okay, hate to rain on the parade but this technically comes under "art" and should thus be posted there, making this post incorrectly categorised.
I've called you, now do my bidding.
I'll give you some feedback in due time, for sure.
Congratulations @Shadowswimmer77 , your entry was a worthy contest winner! and congratulations to the second and third place winners, @Dgrady237 , @Cornconic and @HopelessNightOwl , too!
Could do, but I fear that might lead to some people being a little insensitive about Asian and Pacific Island culture in their stories. It's a great idea though, otherwise.
Okay, this made me genuinely happy to see. I'm really glad you stuck with it for this long, good on you.
