===Bureau of Redacted Media: Case File 93===
Date of Operations: April 22nd, 2019 - July 2nd, 2020
Media recovered: 3 photographs, 1 written document, 1 video still
All confidential media files MUST be placed in the appropriate folder following acquisition. Failure to do so may result in demotion or similar penalties.
As of August of 2019, access to the eastern portion of the ██████████ Desert has been restricted. All unauthorized access outside of media recovery is to be met with lethal force. Details regarding the ban - which has officially declared the area an endangered wildlife preserve - have been passed along to the State level.
When entering the Hunting Zone, there are several guidelines to keep in mind when observing the Entity of Interest:
- Entity will NOT pursue past the geographic boundaries detailed on the next page.
- Common hunting times roughly range from 0600 hours to 1900 hours. It is during this time that any visible celestial bodies are to be considered synonymous with the Entity of Interest and approached with caution; the entity's ability to mimic the apparent magnitude of the Sun is a considerable obstacle when researching.
- Recommended number of Recoverers or Researchers on site should be two (2) and three (3), respectively. Entity will notably remain dormant regardless of last feeding time.
- Entity is viewable for limited periods of time, as it stays at a constant 2000 lumens despite its reddish-orange appearance. Scrubbed images [updated as of February 15th, 2020 5:00am CST] have been provided.

April 22nd was the first date of operations after the Department of Justice released statistics detailing missing persons around the upper eastern portion of ██████████ Desert. As of 2019, around 135 missing persons were reported in the region, with at least 121 of those reports having inconclusive leads. To date, no complete evidence of the missing individuals - save for scorch marks on the desert floor and the presence of ash deposits - has been recovered. It is estimated that the Entity of Interest, which was first recorded in the personal journal of one Eric Henson, burns at minimum temperatures needed to incinerate a human body within minutes. Eric’s final notes were recovered at the upper boundaries of the region, shown here.
- ...ollowing me for at least 6 hours now. Can’t seem to find a way out of this fucking desert, passed same cactus at least 3 times now. Everytime I try to duck into a cave or under some shade the Sun ducks down from the sky, circles around in a wide arc at about 20 feet, keeps shade from being worthwhile. Seems to be toying with its prey (me). Too bright to guess [incomprehensible], at least the size of a really large beach ball, maybe 8 feet high. Everytime it gets closer I can hear my family whispering my name, laughing in chorus so that I can’t hear myself think. Not real; too static-y, too bright and pulsing to be them. I think I’m going to die here. (The note page ends with burn marks here).
The last piece of media recovered was footage obtained via remote drone on July 2nd, 2020. The drone had been tracking the Entity for 24 hours prior and seen no activity until it (presumably) became active and disappeared from all sensors. Unidentified chanting and audio distortion was heard for several minutes at this point. The Entity then reappeared and consumed the drone, but not before the remote upload failsafe engaged and transmitted one final image for archiving. Entity has, since then, remained largely inert.
