Hello, ladies and gentlemen, I have noticed lately that we have had a sharp decline of moderators in the last couple of months. I may be to blame for this, but I admit, I am a bit of a hypocrite. The fact of the matter is, when I proposed Natural Election, we had almost 15 moderators. Now some of you may agree this is way too much, but I did not anticipate how quickly the moderator staff would fall apart. Users created demotion threads, left and right, which lead to one mod getting demoted and another one almost being demoted. To stop the demotion threads, we made Natural Election to interpret the skills of the mods. It ended up demoting 4 mods. After this two other mods stepped down, leaving us with the total of 7 mods.
I suggest that we open up the moderator applications again. It's crazy how only one mod has been moderating the chat at a time, and sometimes only one admin is on moderating. Having more mods would make admins have to spend less time on the chat, and focus more on the site. There was a period yesterday were absolutely no mods or admins were on the chat for about an hour. If a spammer had come on, we would have been stuck on there without any help for over 60 minutes. But luckily for us, we had mature users who didn't go overboard when there was no mods. This is an issue that needs solving now.
Even though Fatal suggested we need to open it only for Nighttime/Morning mods, the amount of mods on at any period of the day has been appalling. We need to settle this soon. Again, I know this is partially my fault, but we should solve this issue before it gets out of hand. Nothing too bad has happened yet, but solving the problem now leaves less time to deal with it in the future. Leave a vote down below and any suggestions on how we can prevent this from happening again in the future.
