As someone who was recently trash talked for being a new user, and then ganged up upon by users and admins alike for getting upset by it and "starting the drama" by responding, I think the problem is, plain and simple, that admins need to start doing their jobs. It shows in the chat rules "Harassing new users in the chat will not be tolerated. Period." yet, for a site that apparently has a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of unnecessary harassment, there sure was a lot of favoritism being shown to the regular users that broke this rule. Speaking of favoritism, I believe that is also against the admin rules.
Apparently I'm not the only one with this problem.
On another, more constructive note, I think the chat could be improved if, after you were kicked, you could get a link to either the profile of the admin that kicked you or a list of all the online admins, since the chat told me to "contact an admin" but as a new user, I don't know how.
At the end of the day, I hardly use this site, so I'm sure a lot of people think it shouldn't be a big deal to me. However, it is something I take seriously because during the few times that I did get on this site to just relax and make smalltalk in the chat rather than writing a pasta like usual, I was met with complete bias that came either in the form of users completely ignoring me to talk with the more known users, or in this case, direct, unnecessary drama, and that's not what a fun chat system should constantly have.
The drama honestly does discourage me from wanting to contribute to this site, and it sucks because I love writing as a hobby and most people tend to enjoy my pastas as well. I hope this post isn't viewed as "adding fuel to the fire" like in the chat, but if it is, at least I tried to give this site a proper chance.
For anyone who is curious, the user who initiated the trash talk was William See and the admin who repeatedly kicked me was WhyAmIReadingThis. I don't know this user or admin very well, so I'm not going to label them as bad or drama-inducing people. This was only my experience with them today.
