Why are some subjects black listed in example Lost Episodes? I don't think it's very fair. If something is well written it should be allowed to be posted I speak from personal experiance gettting my Lost Episode or haunted console game story deleted. I have reverted some of my old pastas into Scp's now so no big deal. Spinpastas I understand should be banned so are the Mlp ones.
Quite frankly, I wouldn't mind if we nixed the rule against haunted game pastas. People have taken it as an "all but" virtual ban on video game pastas altogether, and as a result even our established contributors rarely attempt them. Maybe getting rid of the rule, which draws a fuzzy line to begin with, would encourage more people to try it out.
I also think we should revisit the lost episode ban and consider narrowing its interpretation to mean only stories based on real existing TV shows and movies. The way it's used and defined now has created a lot of grey area (Candle Cove is under lost episodes. If someone wanted to make a vaguely similar story would they also have to make a spin appeal as a lost episode despite it not being about a real show?)
I would take it a step further. Abolish the spinoff rule altogether and let the quality standards alone decide the fate of stories. (Or at least revise them to only ban posting stories based on existing IPs.)

Exactly what I'm saying I have a Candle Cove inspired story but they simply didn't attempt to look at it.

I think you may be deflecting a bit of criticism by saying we're not 'even looking at your stories'. We are, they need work. Your Elmo story is a wall-of-text riddled with mechanical issues that rehashes haunted/cursed doll tropes. It was marked for review and deletion by two separate people before Cleric intervened and deleted it.
As for removing the abuse filter, I can see the appeal as it would make some things easier in some aspects, but unfortunately we still get a lot of blacklisted stories caught up in it that need a lot of work. I'd also like to mention that the past five appeals made on the Spinoff Appeal have passed due to the time the authors put into them while still following the rules so it isn't like we have a hard ban set up that prevents any blacklisted story from appealing. I think the major benefit the abuse filter does is it sets up a choke point where authors have to go through the channels we made instead of spamming their stories and not following the guidelines:

Lost episode stories aren't disregarded (one literally was just approved and won PotM), they just need to go through an appeal rather than allow people to attempt to post/re-post them multiple times to the wiki instead of focusing on bettering them and going through the proper channels.
