I'm Joe and I'm a med student. I just passed my first year and I'm really excited because we will start dissections this year. Not that I'm a psychopath who just wants to put his hands in human flesh, but it's a big changing from the first year with all its theoritical classes.
Atfer few weeks of class, that's the day. I'm in the first group. We are something like 40 students, all wearing a brand new lab coat, having in one pocket a dissection kit and in the other a handfull of silicon gloves. We are already forming 10 groups of 4 students. I'm with 3 friends of mine: Nicolas, Benoit and Thomas. We are waiting in front of the dissection room.
The prosector opens the door and asks us to make a hemi-circle around him so he can give the first instructions. As we are entering in the room, we give a glance at the corpses. Ten tables in two rows, each with a human form lying on it, covered by a tarpaulin. The prosector gives his instructions, tells us which is our table and tells us to start.
My group has the 6th table. We respectuously remove the tarpaulin and look at our corpse. White male, in his 60ties, a little bit fat, he still has his admission wristband (from the Hospital where he died) and we can read that his name is "Maurice".
Benoit jokingly says that Maurice should have done more sport, we all laugh then we take our sclapel to start the dissection. Nicolas made the first cut and while he was trying to separate the skin from the fat, the corpse suddenly grabs his arm, attracts him and tears his troat with his mouth. Nicolas's screams become gurgles of blood and we are watching, horrified, not knowing what to do.
I woke up in my bed, sweaty and shaking. I know it was only a dream but I can't sleep any more tonight. I should because dissections start tommorrow.
The next day
It's the afternoon, we are all gathered in front of the dissection room, waiting for the prosector. He finaly opens the doors and asks us to make an hemi-cercle around him. As he was giving his instructions, I noticed that the room was exaclty like in my dream. I don't have to listen to him I already know that we will get the table 6.
Table 6 it is. I'm frightened, it's idiotic but I can't help but think about my last dream. I should run away but I follow my friends to our table. Thomas asks me to help him to remove the tarpaulin, I'm shaking but I do it. I can recognize Maurice, he even has his admission wristband. Benoit says that Maurice should have done more sport. They all laugh but I don't.
Nicolas takes his scalpel and bends over the corpse. I'm watching him, paralyzed with terror. I know what's coming next.
