If you see a story that you believe is in need of reviewing or editing, please add it to this category if you are not up to the challenge of fixing it up yourself. Also, leave what you feel needs to be fixed in the edit summary or as part of the template so that reviewers know what to look for. If it's something minor, like a misspelling or single misuse of punctuation, please make the edit yourself without adding this category. It takes the same amount of effort to add the category as it does to fix something small like that.
The Marked for Review category should be used:
- In instances where there are numerous mechanical and/or plot-based issues that need reviewing/editing.
- If there are extensive coding/formatting issues that require time to resolve.
- If you believe a story needs to be reviewed for plagiarism/being posted without the author’s permission.
This category is automatically added when adding the {{M4R}} template to the top of pages. Make sure the template goes before the story body and looks like this before publishing the edit:
- {{M4R|reason goes here}}
The reason you put makes it easier for other editors to "zone in" on what needs to be changed. Make the reason(s) as short, clear, and concise as possible. No need for a wall of text review.
Lastly, this category is a standalone one. For instance, don't add the category "Beings" along with it. This prevents subpar stories from leaking into other categories before they can be properly edited/reviewed. Also, if you come across a story that has another category alongside "Marked for Review", feel free to remove the other category yourself.
For the more extreme counterpart of this category, see Delete Now or the {{delete}} template.
