To help ease admins' workload and keep the site running more smoothly, regular users are encouraged to use maintenance tags and categories on pages that need attention. These include:

Purpose of each tag

Marked for Review
This is a catch-all category for pages that may require admin attention, but that you're not quite sure need to be deleted. This could also be for pages that may be in need of light editing, re-formatting, etc.
Use {{M4R}} to add this category to pages.

Examples of when to mark a page for review:

  • Instances where there are numerous mechanical and plot-based issues that need review/editing which our outlined in our quality standards.
  • Extensive coding/formatting issues that require a lot of editing to fix, such as massive walls of text.
  • You suspect a story may be plagiarized from another source (please provide a link to the source you suspect it was plagiarized from.)
  • You suspect that a story may break one of this wiki's rules or blacklisted subjects, but aren't sure.
  • You suspect that a story is not CC-BY-SA compliant, such as a story that has been migrated from another source that isn't explicitly licensed under CC-BY-SA or if the story author has posted an "exclusive copyright" notice.
  • You think a story is unfinished, but aren't sure.
Delete Now
For pages that need to be deleted ASAP. A great way to alert admins of spinoffs, spam pages, unfinished pages, and all breeds of crappypasta. Use with care, though; if you're unsure whether a page needs to be deleted or not, it would be safer to just use Marked for Review.
Use {{delete}} to add this category to pages.

Examples of when to mark a page for deletion:

  • Explicitly unfinished pages, such as pages that end with "more coming soon, will finish later."
  • Terms of use violations, such as advertising, pornography, photos of gore or animal abuse, links to screamers, etc.
  • Copyright violations, such as uploading the full text of a Stephen King novel.

You must state your reasons for marking a story for review or deletion.

Examples of when not to mark a story for review or deletion:

  • Entirely subject plot/story gripes, e.g. "the ending feels rushed" or "this story does not live up to its full potential."
  • Deciding that a story is "not scary enough."
  • Minor spelling or punctuation issues that you can quickly correct yourself, such as a couple bad comma splices throughout the story. If fixing a story's structural issues takes no more effort than applying the review or delete tag does, then you should just fix the issues yourself.
  • Regional spelling variations, such as spelling "colour" instead of "color" or "realise" instead of "realize." UK spelling is fine as long as it is consistent within the story itself (e.g. it doesn't use both "color" and "colour").
  • Subjective wording preferences.

Tagging rules

  1. Do not abuse these tags. Those who do will be given a warning and then a block from editing if the abuse persists.
  2. Do not flag a page for deletion simply because you don't like it. You have to have a legitimate reason for flagging it (e.g. "blacklisted subject" or "Does not meet the quality standards", et cetera). As said before, if you're unsure whether it meets the standards required, just mark it for review or ask an administrator.
  3. If a page is in Marked for Review, it must not be in any other category.
  4. Marked for Review and Delete Now cannot be added together on the same page.
  5. You must state your reasons for marking a story for review or deletion, either in the template or in a comment.

Disclaimer

In the event you post via any means a story, page, or blog post about a subject matter that is determined, at an admin's discretion, to be 1) in a highly clichéd genre/category/subject and 2) poorly written, clichéd, generic, or of generally poor quality, then the admins are free at their discretion to delete the page at any time without warning.
