Back in October 1992, I was nine years old. It was Halloween. I was a skeleton and my seven-year-old sister, Jade was a witch. I had a fun day, but eventually the day was over, and me and my sister were waiting for our parents to pick us up.

Eventually they came driving in a white van, and I realized we had to go shopping; but I wanted to hang out with my friends, and during my childhood I despised going shopping. I then noticed the way my parents were dressed for Halloween: my dad had a really poorly-made clown mask on and my mother was wearing a panda bear costume. My parents had never celebrated Halloween before, so I found this unusual.

"Get in!" my mom shouted.

"No! I don't want to! I don't want to go shopping and I want to go to my friend's house!" I shouted back.

"Come on sweetie, just get in!" my dad said.

My sister eagerly got into the back of the van; she was a very good kid and she always did what our parents said. My dad became more angry and he started shouting at me to get into the van. I refused to.

"Fine! I hope you have lots of fun because we're leaving without you, we're serious!" my dad angrily shouted at me.

They drove away. This was all very weird; since when did my mom and dad dress for Halloween, and why did they drive a white van instead of their regular vehicle?

A couple minutes later, my parents came driving their normal vehicle.

"Hey, where is Jade?" my dad asked.
