Sirenis Canticum, or "Siren's Song", is a previously unseen, highly contagious waterborne disease.

Early symptoms include sneezing, sweating, hypersalivation and general weakness. If left untreated, it can lead to severe dehydration and hydrophilia. Those afflicted develop an intense attraction to water and its sources. They seek to surround themselves with water through behaviors such as flooding their homes, immersing themselves in large bodies of water—such as lakes, rivers, seas, canals, or reservoirs—or hoarding large quantities of bottled drinking water.

Accounts of these behaviors vary among individuals. Some claim they hear the voices of their loved ones emanating from water, whilst others claim to be so dehydrated to the point that they "can only get enough hydration directly from the source". A few claim to be losing hope in life, and express a desire to drown.

In addition to hydrophilia, the afflicted may exhibit apathy, paranoia, and an obsessive fixation on water and other liquids, often feeling depressed when separated from water and actively seek it out, regardless of the circumstances.

If denied access to water, an afflicted person may resort to urinating on themselves or biting into their or other people's skin to induce bleeding, and drinking or smearing themselves in blood, as a way to feel moisture around them.
