Description
This template is intended as an easy way to credit a story to a user on the wiki. It serves the same function as {{by}} with the user=yes parameter filled, though it is much less versatile; see below.
Usage
Simply add the template to the bottom of the page to be credited, putting the author's username in the template's first parameter. For example, put {{by-user|Example}} at the bottom of the page to produce the following:

Written by Example
Content is available under CC BY-SA

You can also change the text outwardly displayed by the link by filling in the second parameter with another name (this is useful if you want it to display the user's real name but still have it link to their userpage).
For example, if the intended link target is User:Example, but you want the link text to say "Other name", simply put {{by-user|Example|Other name}}. Result:

Written by Other name
Content is available under CC BY-SA

You can also change the license from the default CC-BY-SA to CC BY-NC (license=cc-by-nc) or CC BY-NC-ND (license=cc-by-nd). See this page for further information on licensing.
Please note: The wiki is no longer able to accept stories written under CC BY-NC or CC BY-NC-ND. Please do not add new stories to the wiki if they are released under these licenses.
Example: {{by-user|Example|license=cc-by-nd}} produces:

Written by Example
Content is available under CC BY-NC-ND

If you don't want it to have a license (not recommended, especially if it's your own work), simply put "none" (license=none) for that parameter.
Limitations
Beyond the first two parameters and the license parameter, this template is not customizable. To access further options, use the more versatile {{by}} template. (documentation)
