The Wiki Costume Contest has ben concluded! Winners and runners-up can be viewed here
Welcome to the wiki costume contest announcement post!
After talking with DubiousDugong, we’ve decided to start a little project for October to allow some of the more creative and artistic users to submit their costumes/cosplays from their favorite horror/sci-fi movies, literature, t.v. shows. At the end of submissions, a select few will be announced winners and could have their submissions entered into the Nightmare Fuel section and gain bragging rights/renown.
Let’s start with the rules first: (Hooray???)
Costumes from creepypasta-based characters (Like Jeff the Killer, Laughing Jack, Slenderman, and others) will not be part of the contest as if they are allowed, the contest will be swamped with too many photos of them that it would be impossible to differentiate between them and appropriately select a winner.
Submissions must be your own. No looking up photos that you didn’t make and submitting them. I’m not going to ask for proof or authenticity or anything like that, just putting you all to an honor code.
No store-bought costumes, you can buy items and make-up to accentuate your design; just not a store-bought costume that requires zero effort.
No sabotaging or removing other people’s submissions from the submission page. (That one should be fairly obvious.)
So what does that leave for you to dress up as? You can use this as an opportunity to show off your skillz (I hear that’s how you kids write it.) and dress up as your favorite literary or cinematic monster/murderer/maniac.
Here are the time constraints. We will start accepting submissions October 18th, 2014 and we will close the submissions November 1st, 2014. Depending on how many submissions we have, the judges could be done in a few days or a week.
Onto the judges: we will need to elect some people to select five or ten costumes and from there we can possible do a poll or leave it up to the judges. We can decide later on how to approach the judging process.
I’m making this post early so you all have time to plan. I will be entering the contest as well. (I will be excluding myself from the judging however for the sake of impartiality.) Feel free to comment below if you have some suggestions, want to nominate a judge (Nominations now closed.), or just have some unanswered questions. Best of luck to you all.
Rather than make a second page for entries, we will be using this forum post as a means for submitting your entries. The period for submissions will begin Oct. 18th and will close Nov. 1st. Note that any submissions before or after those dates will be removed and disqualified.
To enter:
Simply attach one to three photos of your costume in a comment below. (Do not add more than three photos as it will clutter up up the page.)
List the costume character/give a brief explanation if it is original. (Keep in mind that creepypasta character costumes are still not eligible.)
You can comment on other people's costumes, but do not put your costume picture in a reply on another user's post. Each submission should be separate from other users so as to easily identify (and if need be, remove submissions that violate the rules set above)
Final Update: Submissions are now closed and we can begin voting. Please note that the winner of the community vote will receive one vote while each judge will also be able to select one costume. (Seven in total.) The costume with the most votes wins. The polls will close Nov. 6th and the winner will be announced Nov. 7th.
Side note to the judges: just put a comment below with your reasons for voting and they will be tallied up at the end.
Costume Voting
Best of luck to you all and thank you for participating!

Do I at least get to be a judge in one of these contests? lmao.
And we just got Cleric as a judge. (Did I even dare to dream that was a possibility???) Looks like everyone is going to have to step their game up for the contest.

I'll be a judge to if you want haha.
Welp, this is going faster than expected. Up to four judges now. Should we make it an even five or more? (Let's leave it up to DubiousDugong to decide and maybe nominate a few should he so chose)
As it stands, I have chosen/approved of the past two judges, I'd like Dubious to pick a few so I don't stack everything in my favor. (My costume, despite not being applicable in the contest, is gonna win!)

So DubiousDugong has decided to enter the contest instead of being a judge. (A new competitor!), which means I have more control over who becomes judges. (God help us all!)

You're in, if you're up for it.

You too Luigi. (You can show your costume, but if you're judge, you can't win the contest. Up to you if you still want in. If so, welcome to the judging team. Now let's go judge! (In two-three weeks...)
Crickshaw wrote: This seems like a cool idea. Finally, I can dress up like a horrifying abomination spawn of satan without getting pulled into a police car.
You will still be pulled into a police car, Crick. You'll just have a chance to win a contest while doing it.
If our costume looks like a creepypasta character, but isn't one, Does it still count? My costume that I have planned out looks somewhat like Jeff The Killer, but it's far from him. Is that okay?
Theringleader wrote: If our costume looks like a creepypasta character, but isn't one, Does it still count? My costume that I have planned out looks somewhat like Jeff The Killer, but it's far from him. Is that okay?
I doubt it would matter much. As long as it is not him and specified clearly what it is, there shouldn't be a problem. Of course I'm not planning this so I'm only guessing, so if I'm wrong please correct me.

Are entrants just going to put their picture up in the comments section here, then the judges votes? I'm a bit confused (what else is new).
I was debating whether or not to do a project page and have entries posted there or to just have them here. Also need to have a sit down and figure out how we're going to do the voting process.
Also TheRingLeader:
>Costumes from creepypasta-based characters (Like Jeff the Killer, Laughing Jack, Slenderman, and others) will not be part of the contest...
I really don't want us to end up judging fifteen separate JtK/Slenderman costumes as there is no fun/creativity in that. As long as your costume isn't a cp-based character, it'll be fine. (The more recognizable the better.)

Would probably just be best to have the users submit their pics on this thread beginning through ending on the dates you set. Would just be easier. Just my opinion though.

Everyone has a costume. They can dress up as BOB. All the person has to do is get naked, crop off their arms in the pic that they're submitting, shave their head off, and have vampire teeth in. And there is your Creepypasta costume...
I've been dying to say that joke since yesterday, but I didn't have the time for it. Lel.

I would like in on being a judge since i don't have the artistic skill to make a good costume; last time I tried it looked like crap and fell apart before the end of the night.

Holy shit. You have no idea how much I'm HNNNNNG-ing right now.
Ha, that costume is awesome. One of my favorite movies. I hope "Singing in the Rain" was playing in the background when you took the picture. The milk was a very nice touch.

it was milk plus... I tried not to play "Singing in the Rain" as I didn't want to run my horrible attempt at mascara-ing one eye by fear crying...

Harkon Romney wrote: I'm not joining but a good idea would be to dress as the Russian Sleep Experiment victim.
Probably not. The rules state you can't be a character from a creepypasta. While this is more just to keep people from being Jeff the Klown and Slender Sissy, I wouldn't try. Or atleast talk to Empyreallnvective about it.
Leather, black shoe polish, antique dental tools, chains, hooks, brass, copper, and boot thread.
Miscellaneous notes:
Every part is hand made and put together by me, I purchased the Wilson Safety glasses and had custom reflective lenses put in at a local optometry office, hence why I'm in an optomotry office in these photos. I used carburator parts to attach the jewelers loupes to the glasses. All bones/tusks are salvaged or found. Leather was worked and formed by hand, I also soldered, cut, ground, and formed the bone and cooper for the back piece. If you can't tell, that is a stretched face in between the rods. If you like I can attach a few more images for details, the pelvic bone has a corset style weave in back of very thick copper wire. All tools in the belt are archaic dental tools that belong to my family, the large syringe looking thing is actually for putting medicine into horses mouths.
EDIT: DECIDED TO LINK TO A LIST OF DETAILS ON MY TUMBLR, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS THEN THE FEW OF YOU I HAVE ON FB CAN CHECK IT.
Noothgrush wrote: God knows a checkered trilby on top of what looks like a Gladiator mask clearly beats 12 months of planning and fabricating.
The ceramic mask and checker pattern on the fedora were made by me. I also dyed the jacket and molded the gold icon on the fron of the watch. While it's one of my more lazier costumes, I decided not to put my best work into a contest I can't even recieve votes one. I found your costume, however, to be very impressive. I wouldn't have thought to tint custom lenses. I certainly think you set the bar high.
Come on people, I wanna' see costumes! If I have to break out my Princess Peach costume, I promise you will all regret it. It doesn't have to be perfect, just have fun with it. You rarely get a chance to have your Halloween costume viewed by this many people, so get to it. There's only a week left!
I would post a picture if I knew how to on here. Because I do everything by phone, iphone 6 unfortunately, anytime I try to upload anything, it doesn't actually upload it. It says permission denied.

Looks like a challenger has come forth to challenge Nooth! Seriously both you guys make my bowler cap, onesie, and mascara to one eye look like ill-planned crap. (Thanks a lot you glorious hard-working jerks!)
We have a little under a week (Nov. 1st) until the submission period is over. Feel like showing off your artistic talents? Want to celebrate the spookiest day of the year with a costume? Maybe you just wanna one-up me (again), whatever your reasons, submit your costume and get recognition for your work.
I think I'll post my costume, even if it doesn't stand a chance against Lilly's and Nooth's. Guess I better get off Creepypasta and get started on the makeup! :3

It's not really 'amazing.' The dress I used as the base for mine came in the mail just last week, so I had to rush to put all the details onto it. It's pretty sloppy XD
Seraph of Flame wrote:
As a judge, can I still post my costume, but have it be excluded from the contest?
it will be excluded from the contest. (unless we have an abysmal participation rate, and then all bets are off and we go a free-for-all poll) Hope it doesn't come to that

Give it a go, I'd love to see your costume and I'm sure a bunch of other users would be interested in seeing what you have.
Well then, here's my entry. My costume doesn't really have a theme. My thought process was basically just, "Harlequin tights? Cool. Lolita dress? Nice. Glasgow smile? Perfect. Add a mutilated bear and I have a costume." So, I guess I'm a possessed child/doll thing...? XD
Not a lot of entries here. Hope to see more coming soon. I'd say the current costumes are doing pretty good. As much as i'd find it easier to vote on three costumes, I hope this gets more uploads.

I'm sure that a lot of entries will pop up on Halloween, when everyone's already in their costumes and decide to post a few pics.
I already got my costume ready! :) but I'm gonna suprise people by making a picture post of my pasta oc, then I will make the actual pasta story later on since I'm working on another project! :D

GreyOwl, Apple products save all of their pictures under the same file name. I do not think you can upload Iphone photos here without overriding another picture of the same name. However, if you can access a desktop computer and save your photos under a custom name, you'll be able to upload them without issue.

It is not going to be accepted here in the contest as if we allow Ticci Toby, we'll have to allow JtK, then Slenderman and Laughing Jack and every other pasta monster, and then we get duplicate costumes and it becomes a pain to determine a winner from a bunch of nearly-identical costumes.
Micah Rodriguez wrote: Um so is a Ticci Toby costume out of the question? *crosses fingers biting my lower lip hoping I could use my Ticci Toby costume*
I'm guessing not, since the first rule is no creepypasta characters, but since that story isn't hosted on this site, I'm not sure. Hopefully Empy will see this and weigh in.

Yeah I hope so. I already made the costume. Now I just need comfirmation.
@ Micah- If you read Empy's response above mine, you'll see that he said no and his reasons for doing so. Maybe you could change it up, add some things to it, and make it into something other than a creepypasta character. Just something to think about.

ok well. Thank you anyways. I was looking for answers and I got them. As disappointed as I am, I couldn't find a way to get the picture on my chromebook anyways so I'm just gonna cheer on every one else. Especially @ nyaomeimei- I like the phycotic little girl touch on the costume. If I ever saw that in my room at the middle of the night I would freak out .

Good luck on your costume for Halloween though.
Thank you for the comfirmation. I guess I'll just cheer the rest on and hope they have fun.
You have no one but yourselves to blame for this. I gave ample warning that if more people didn't enter that I would make you all regret it, and you've forced my hand. I've cropped out the lower half to avoid any human rights violations.

This automatically wins the contest and is somehow named pasta of the month.
Remember everyone, the deadline to submit comes to a close tomorrow so get your costumes in or Princess Pete will be visiting you in your dreams tonight.

What has been seen cannot be unseen. I am not responsible for any retina damage or for broken computers that have been thrown against the wall.
Happy Halloween... <----- (creepy ellipsis)
P.S. This isn't really an entry, just punishment. There's still time to enter! You can still save yourself from being blamed for this!
This costume is incredible. You should automatically win this contest, this would fit in perfectly at the Nightmare Fuel gallery. Liek if u crai everytiem :'(

I just love how nobody in that optometry office seems to be noticing or caring (unless that person on the far left in the second picture is taking a picture with that smart phone). To paraphrase a quote from a SpongeBob SquarePants episode, what kind of optometry office are you going to, lad?
As of now, I vote for Nooth's , it is very well designed, and seems to have lots of thought into it. Also, has the list of what he is wearing. So far pretty good. :D

After contemplating all the costumes, I will second the vote for Nooth's.

My offical final vote for this submisison thread goes to.......... Noothbrush. +1 for innovative design, and a stellar amount of detail, all in all my vote goes to Nooth for such a good piece of Halloween costume festivities!!!
Nyaomeimei, your costume makes me want to turn every light on and hide in a corner, lest you appear behind me in the dark. It's a very well-made costume, and is terrifying to think of. So my vote goes to you, good lady.
Nyaomeimei gets my vote. Not only is she beautiful yet also scary, the subtle touches of the shredded teddy lend a horrific quality to the costume. The makeup looks rather professional and expertly done. Tenouttaten, would spook again.
(Everyone knows Princess Pete is the unofficial nightmares winner of this too, right?)

Alright, official vote here goes to Nooth. His was original and thoroughly thought out. I saw nothing but effort and hard work in his costume and I think it really pays off here.

To clear up some confusion, the community vote is at the top of the page with a vote counter. The winner of the community vote will count as a vote that carries the same weight as the judges. The judges choices and the winner of the community vote will decide the overall winner (six judge votes and one community vote). Read Empy's explanation at the top, right above the community poll.

God Jay, I can't even read your username without thinking about that horrific fairy costume! But yes, sorry, I missed Empy's comment. Thank you for clearing this up.

Thanks for clearing that up Jay, if there were more submissions, I was going to have the judges select six and then a community vote to decide the winner, but as we had six; there was no need for that.

Oh, I'm not that good. You should see the artwork my pal MMPratt does! I appreciate it, though. Where...where can I read this fanfiction?
In time my friend, in time. It must be highest of quality for Princess Pete.

Good lord man. Those are awesome and hilarious. The second one is epic. Those will go perfect with Seraph's smutty fanfics. Nice work.
Hey, thanks bro. I figure now that we are in the quiet Judging Phase of the competition, it would be a good time to make some people laugh. Glad ya like 'em, thanks for the inspiration XD
It would be cool to see Seraph use these pictures in her fapfictions.
Well, you wanted fame and fan art, I am here to give you both. Behold the Princess Pete fan art, by yours truly!

I'm looking foward to it. Feel free to use my pictures. I must warn you; I've scattered a few Easter eggs and hidden secrets within them ;)
In the end, I didn’t think that was going to be as hard of a choice when I first began this project. I assumed a bunch of users were going to half-ass it, but I was proven pleasantly wrong.
Before I announce who has my vote, I’d like to say a little about the entries. (This is gonna get long-winded, so feel free to scroll to the bottom for my selection.
LillyRoseFlint, your Poison Ivy costume is great. I especially liked the combination of the comics, movies, and tv show. The time you spent on the gloves really shows. (Sewing is not a talent of mine.)
Tyberzannisultra as Praecognitus, your hat, adapted gas mask, glove, and black jacket really work well together. I can’t help but assume a post-apocalyptic scenario when I see gas masks, which is one of my favorite genres. So bonus points! Also fan art bonus points!
GreyOwl as Defiance’s Stahma Tarr looks like a spot on reproduction of the way the character is depicted in the show. The tinted contacts really bring the whole thing together. (If your eyes just happen to be that red, I am sorry for being presumptuous.)
DubiousDugong dressed up as the Young Ghoul from “The Purge” works great at capturing the small details of the character down to the bandaged hand. Seriously, that looks like a fun costume and it already has a built in story behind it.
Nyaomeimei as the possessed child/doll worked well overall with the tattered bear, knife-sliced smile (good make-up effects!), and mismatched tights really bring the whole thing together. It looks creepy and may have caused me to panic and kick a child who snuck up on me. One of the reasons Princess Pete or I are not allowed around schools anymore…
In the end though, my vote has to go to Noothgush (Dr. Moribund). Looking and reading through the sheer amount of work he put into it and the link he included, it is plain to see the detail and hard work he put into this. Seriously, each time I look at the costume, I pick up on new things. (I just noticed all the medical implements he has in his belt, including the massive gauge syringe.)

Tyber confesses love for Princess Pete
~sings~ Love...soft as an easy chair...
Love...fresh as the morning air...
Love...silent and evergreen...
You and I will make each night the first Everyday a beginning Spirits rise and their dance is unrehearsed They warm and excite us 'Cause we have the brightest love Two lights that shine as one Morning glory and midnight sun Time... we've learned to sail above Time... won't change the meaning of one love Ageless and ever evergreen...

~laughs and claps in delight~ Awesome! :-D
For those of you who don't understand what's happening here, this is "Evergreen", the love song performed by Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in the 1970s version of A Star Is Born.

>high five< Barbara is the best, excellent singer! I've got one, let's see if you can guess it!
"Just you know why...
Why you and I
Will, by and by
Know true love ways..."
>high fives back< Incidentally, "Evergreen" was number 16 on the AFI's 100 Years... 100 Songs list (a 2004 list of the 100 greatest movie songs as determined by the American Film Institute). Barbara makes a lot of greatest lists. In fact, her appearance on the "Coffee Talk" segment on Saturday Night Live was number one on a list Vh1 had years ago, 25 Greatest Rock Star Cameos on TV.
I have to admit that I had to look up that other song on Sing 365. Is it "True Love Ways" by Buddy Holly?

Wow, you must know a lot about Barbara! And you are correct, that was Buddy Holly!
You nearly threw me with that song because 1) I didn't recognize the lyrics and had to look it up and 2) I just assumed that it was another Barbara song! I found the song, but then I thought, "It doesn't list a version by Streisand!" ~laughs~ It seems like I know more than I do (about a lot of things) because 1) I read extensively, 2) I read or watch a lot of countdowns (100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock, 100 Greatest Country Music Videos, TV's 50 Biggest Bombs and Blunders, etc.), and 3) I have a pretty good memory. I have a lot of lists printed out, so who do you like in addition to Barbara and Buddy? I can post some entries like I did earlier, though it'll have to be on your talk page because if a thread gets too off-topic, they close it, and then we'll get 1) mean looks and 2) remarks like, "This is why we can't have anything nice!"
I gave a lot of multi-part answers there, didn't I?
Please ignore Nooth. He's the winner of the contest, you see, and he grows impatient waiting for his trophy.
My friend you are either a genius or a robot from an '80's Sci-Fi sitcom. I challenge you then, to tell me where my favorite song (Superstition by Stevie Wonder) ranks in those lists. If you can tell me, I can confirm that you are in fact a genius xD
