Thinking of doing this for some other categories to, i.e. Lost Episodes. Thoughts? LOLSKELETONS (talk) 18:36, January 29, 2015 (UTC)
At the other two, something similar was suggested.
Separating Pokemon, Lost Episodes and Theory from other categories makes sense - to quote Skelly, "most people looking through, say, Ghosts aren't looking for stories about Lavender Town or dead pokemon." Having exclusivity for these categories would stop this issue.
The major drawback of doing something like this was that the RC would be flooded with Poképastas (many of which are very low quality, in comparison to the rest of our content). However, since That One Machine now exists, this could now be done in a way that will keep them out of the recent changes/wiki activity (since bot edits don't show up there). Additionally, the bot could perform this task, saving a lot of effort on our part, with regards to having to update a ton of pages.
So to clarify, this proposal is to make PokéMon, "Lost Episodes" and Theory exclusive categories (other categories have to be removed if they are added to a page) other than a few exceptions. Please leave your votes below. Additionally, if you disagree with the bot performing this task, feel free to vote on that as well. Thanks :)
I'm gonna stop quoting, just for the sake of appearance. Yes, but doing this would allow more of these to be written, meaning more would be submitted, and at least a few of those awful, terrible stories from the depths of hell would get through and be allowed to stay on the wiki, thus increasing the chance of my random-pasta-ing to one. Randompastaing. It's a word now.
There was an issue in which it blanked 1999, however it was stopped immediately, I reverted its edit, located the bug and fixed it. I also apologised to Giant engineer for the error, and I promise I will do my best to stop this happening again (not that it's likely).
(For anyone who's interested, I forgot to escape a forward slash when performing a preg_replace, causing a certain variable to be nullified, causing the page to be blanked)
