Hey so JohnathonNash and I have been scheming speaking about doing a winter themed competition where each writer would be given a prompt (inspired by the season) and would need to write a story based off that prompt. I thought I'd lay out a proposal here so everyone could chip in and give their opinions before anything moves forward officially.
So I thought a 5000 word limit seemed reasonable.
If it goes forward today I thought a deadline of either Christmas Eve or Christmas Eve Eve (or 23rd if you're a traditionalist) would be good but I'd also appreciate feedback from more experienced members on whether that gives people enough time.
John and I can then give our own ratings and we can average them to find the winners (not unlike the last cliche contest).
I think that just about covers the basics. Also I just wanted to confirm with Johnathon that we'd be giving people just one prompt each.
I'm pretty sure there won't be any problem with this. You'll want to add prizes (I know you were planning on it, but I'd go ahead and discuss it here), which usually amounts to a spot on the front page (now listed as contest winner below the spotlighted pasta). I think that the 23rd or 24th is a good deadline. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from a couple of the others so you can get started on making the blog.
We actually created a new spot for contest winners because we were neglecting the nominations by using the spotlight so much. It's basically the same as being spotlighted. I've messaged the others about it, and I'll let you know when I get enough responses (probably within the next five or six hours). You could go ahead and make the blog on a word doc, because I pretty much guarantee it won't be an issue, but I still wanna hear from a couple others.
Hey guys, JohnathanNash and I have decided to come together and create a competition for the Christmas time of year! This competition will focus on the time of year we’re in and will require you to write a story inspired by one of our Christmas and Winter themed prompts!
Rules: State your interest and either Johnathan or I will provide you with a prompt. You must then write a story inspired by that prompt. Once finished post your story to the wikia (it must meet quality standards so consider using the workshop) and post a comment here with a link to your story! Simple.
Word Limit: 5000 words
Deadline: 24th December
Starting point: December 6/7th
Reward: First prize gets a place on the front page and a review from Johnathan and I (one each). And the second and third place entries will also get in-depth reviews from John and I. Also, glory. Lots and lots of glory.
Judges: Johnathan and I will judge and then average our scores to find the first, second and third place entries. If we’re absolutely swamped we may consider getting another judge in but I think we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

John feel free to amend or include any updates that you'd like. I'd like for everyone to get a good look at this before it goes ahead, and I'm not attached to any of the major stipulations in this proposal. So if you wanna up the word limit, or have it so we give one prompt each, or want me to contact KillaHawke to see if he'll do a narration, feel free to say so.
Also the name was just a bit of fun. So if you don't like it feel free to change it too.
You'd wish. No one managed to do so yet. I hold Dupin down by teasing him about his very small...self esteem, I will have you at my hand with your BULLying and Jay...God knows, I think he appreciates the shitshow.
