    The Supernatural

    September 15, 2017 by Derpyspaghetti

Let me just get this out of the way: I have no religious affiliation whatsoever (fine if you do, it's just not for me). I'm agnostic, I have no idea if there is or isn't a god, so I believe what gives the most evidence.

However, that doesn't stop me from seeing some evidence for the supernatural. Horrors which we don't understand, and never will, lurking inside the darkest corners of the room, or perhaps waiting outside the window, ready to strike if the opportunity is given. Perhaps a voice that whispers to you through the darkness of your room.

I've had some strange experiences myself, such as hearing a voice that sounded like my sister whispering my name (Ryan...) in the middle of the night, or perhaps the time I saw a shadow flit by behi…

    Hey - Thanks

    July 26, 2017 by Derpyspaghetti

I've been doing some reflection lately since it's summer and there's nothing else to do (and I'm going through some weird-ass shit right now) and realized something - this is place is how I got my start as a mediocre-at-best-yet-wanting-to-improve writer.

This is old news to most of you, but I posted sub-par shit on here almost daily and got it taken down at the same rate. It got really boring to me to be trying the same shit over and over and having nothing stick, so I went over to the workshop. I had one helpful review from someone (No saying who, but his throne of salt looks bigger these days) and got back to writing.

It was around that time that I decided to rewrite something to see if I could make it better and throw it on the workshop …

    Net Neutrality

    July 12, 2017 by Derpyspaghetti

This is gonna stay short since I'm on my phone, but this issue means a lot to me.

I recently learned that some large Internet Service Providers (I don't know their names) have been campaigning once again to attempt to abolish Net Neutrality in America. Net Neutrality is a set of rules that stops them from making your internet unbearably slow for certain sites (such as this one) or just block you from them altogether.

You can probably understand why this is bad, in how it restricts people from accessing and sharing new ideas, and restricting innovation. The internet was made for sharing ideas and things, such as these stories, and repealing Net Neutrality will heavily restrict this.

The best thing you can do right now is write to your constitu…

    Dark Humour Contest!

    February 3, 2017 by Derpyspaghetti

Yep, you read that title right. This is not so much for creepy stories, but rather for stories full of Dark Humour. I'm excited to see what you guys have in store for us!

I'm sure you all know how a contest like this works, but for those who don't, I'm going to outline the rules here.

To enter, make a comment below that says something along the lines of "I'm in," and then indicate whether or not you would like to receive a prompt.

If you do want a prompt, either Diexilius or I will give you one. You must incorporate the prompt into your story in some way.

Once you have entered, you will have until the deadline to complete the story. We will give out extensions, but will be somewhat sparing with them.

After you have submitted your story, Dix and…

This is definitely one of the less looked upon issues in stories, as authors can usually figure out how they want to do it in their stories, but when done wrong, it can ruin a great idea. This is not to say that it is extremely important, but prose can really drive home the point of a story if used correctly. It can be used so effectively as to make a story scarier than it could have been had the author not considered the prose in the first place.

Prose is basically your "author's voice". It is the vocabulary you use when writing a story. For me, this is written in the prose I'm most comfortable with, and for you, starting out, your first story should be too. If you are a more seasoned author, you can experiment a lot more with the na…
