Plagiarism and You

Don’t do it. Simple as that. This user decided to do it and has been banned for six months. I had at least a modicum of respect for them when they were trying to get their stories accepted despite not meeting quality standards in their attempts, but now that’s gone. Anyone who steals someone’s hard work and tries to pass it off as their own by making a number of changes so it doesn’t come up easily in a search, is taking advantage of the original author and being incredibly disrespectful. Here is the original story that LordMReaper tried to pass off as his own. Feel free to check it out and give the author credit for her hard work. He made edits so it wouldn’t match up in google if you tried to look for it, but it’s going to take more than…

Main Page Stories and You

As many of you know, a few months ago we had another issue with someone abusing the PotM system and with other instances of users abusing the polls and ballot box stuffing, we had to discontinue PotM temporarily while we tried to come up with an alternative that didn’t allow for unscrupulous users to ruin it for everyone else.

Unfortunately we can’t bring back PotM to the site with pinkie swears and promises as it seems there will always be someone trying to be underhanded who don't seem to care that cheating the system does not equal an achievement. That being said, the admins here also want stories to get attention and to allow for community involvement.

We’ve reached a temporary solution that we’d like to try starting in February for Marc…

Regarding PotM (again)

Update: I have been messaged by Kowale on multiple wikis asking for an explanation. For the sake of transparency, here are the links.

His message.

My response.

Hey guys, maybe you remember this post about cheating and abusing the Pasta of the Month voting system. Remember how acerbic I got??? Yeah…

Are you fucking kidding me? We have to bring this up again? What part of, ‘Do not try to sock nominate your pasta, do not try to involve outside sources to win regardless of quality. What does winning accomplish for you if cheated to get it done? It is pyrrhic. It is hollow. It gets you nothing. It means nothing.’ is so hard to understand?

Now we have a situation of someone fraudulently winning potm by having their sock nominating their story and lik…

Emp's Halloween Horr-tacular

Oh Jesus, that time is upon us where I go into horror movie overload and watch one (or more) a day until Halloween. In the past I’ve typically subjected only my Facebook friends to this marathon, but last year I was convinced by a certain bastardus to share it with the wiki so I’ll be punishing you all again this year. I will update this on a weekly basis to avoid flooding the RA feed with all of this.

I’m posting this a week early because I want your feedback and suggestions. What movie should I watch? Now is your chance to scare the pants off of me (or back onto me depending on your preference) by giving me a good one or troll me with a spectacularly bad one. Please note that I will only be accepting one Uwe Boll and one Ed Wood horror mo…

So You Want to Make the Audience Cry?

I might need to explain that a bit first. A more apt (although less attention grabbing title) would be, ‘so you want to make your audience emotionally invested in the characters?’ I’ve been told that I have managed to write a few stories that achieve this, whether they meant through pathos or due to my incredibly poor grammar is still up for debate. I’ll go with the former, as the latter doesn’t really inspire much confidence in the readers and would likely make a really bad ‘how-to’ guide.

Take note that if you are writing a story with an emotional component for this site, it still needs to be a creepypasta. (Meaning that there needs to be elements of horror in it.) Like many genres, there is always room to mix-and-match and like how horro…
