    Hula Key
    Dream Address: 4D00-0013-94BC

Hula Key is interesting in that it feels almost theme park-like. You get a good idea of what you're in for with this town right away, as the mayor invites you to search for five bodies around the area (represented by the skeleton furniture item). You're provided a skeleton outfit yourself, and while you explore you can visit the pet shop owned by Death himself and the diner owned by an oni-masked demon.

Like most of the others I've visited, this one is well-made, with obvious care put into its custom designs. Overall, the horror elements of this town have a lighter feel thanks to the way they're presented. I'd put it more on the fun side than the truly scary side.

    Cuteland
    Dream Address: 5C00-0029-541E

Just going by the name and the fact that it's featured here, you can probably guess what to expect from Cuteland: sweet on the outside, rotten on the inside. You'd be right, but for essentially tipping its hand with just its name, Cuteland is very well-done. There's a real story to be found here, even if you're not given all the details. Something about the perfect mayor, where she came from, and the hints about how things got this way all give off some serious vibes of a messed-up fairytale. (And for the record, I didn't manage to get bingo while exploring this town.)

As a side note, you can encounter the walrus character who will let you copy custom patterns in this town. I recom…

It's exactly what it sounds like. I made a bingo card based on all the dream towns I've been visiting. Maybe I'll play bingo with the towns I visit in future blog posts (also feel free to do it yourself if you play ACNL).

    Faleisha
    Dream Address: 5B00-0026-1300

Faleisha as a whole gives off heavy cult vibes. All the human NPCs you meet are wearing strange masks, and at least one of them is implied to be dying or already dead. One of the houses you can enter is pulling double duty with a hospital section in its attic and a graveyard in its basement, and multiple houses have rooms that look like the interior of a church. There's also some tall grass/crops growing inside some areas that lends a feeling reminiscent of Children of the Corn. Some of the animal villagers are wearing bloodstained clothing, and of course there's the mass grave down on the beach.

There's not a lot of story to be gleaned by exploring the town, but the atmosphere it i…

    Fade
    Dream Address: 7B00-0047-9C5E

I wasn't sure about bringing Fade up here because as far as story goes, it's not very clear. It is, however, very pretty and well-made, and it provides enough hints about its backstory that I decided some people would want to take a look.

Fade is a very overgrown and tropical/East-Asian looking town. Flowers and trees are everywhere. Skeletons are also everywhere (specifically the Peking man, one of the fossils you can obtain in the game). You'll find villagers wandering around like in any other dream town, but my interpretation of how wild and overgrown the town has become, plus the many skeletons (ignoring that the Peking man is an example of Homo erectus and not a modern human) is t…
