I read and edit a lot of stories on this wiki. However, I'm not one to leave feedback in the comments very often. I don't do scores, and I have trouble coming up with unique feedback that isn't just some variation of "I really liked how you did that thing that you did."
I also haven't taken up the popular practice of having a list of favorite stories on my user page. I haven't bothered because I don't want to go through the hassle of deciding if I should rank them, whether a certain story is "really good enough for my favorites list", etc.
So, I've come up with this instead. Inspired by EtherBot's Random Writer's Showcase series, I plan to make a blog post listing ten stories from this wiki that I liked from time to time. These aren't necessarily my "favorites", they are just stories that I thought I got something out of and would recommend to others for at least one read. These aren't ranked in any particular order, but they are numbered because, after all, it is a ten-list.
1. Dog Children by Umbrello
One of my favorite themes in creepypasta is taking a wrong turn during a road trip and finding yourself in some weird rural American hell. What this story lacks in scare factor it makes up for in weirdness and intrigue.
2. Spiderland by Umbrello
Similar to Dog Children, this story combines two of my favorite pasta tropes: the mysterious backroad town and the mysterious travelling carnival/circus/theater/magic show etc. Spiders are horrifying, but they're also stunning and intricate, and this piece reflects both aspects.
3. Hands - My Haphephobia Experience byVeryclever4u
Very plain prose, very simple style, but this story really packs a punch. It is very grounded in its approach but leaves you intrigued until the very end.
Possibly the best "creepy toy" pasta I've ever read. It gives a feeling of slow, lingering, building dread as it progresses.
I don't find this story scary, but the premise and themes are fascinating.
6.Delusion in Purple and White by NickyXX
NickyXX has one of the most unique prose styles on this wiki, and in my opinion this is her best story on the wiki.
7. The Soldier by Shadowswimmer77
This story is part of the Wicker Series, the rest of which is also worth reading, but it is set up as a standalone story.
8. The Interview by Fairly7Local
Props to the author for making a story comprised entirely of dry, uneventful dialogue still manage to be really interesting.
9. Better Films by Alice Thompson
My favorite creepypasta genre is stories dealing with film and television. And of that genre, this is one of my favorites.
10. Paulie's Puppy by Mmpratt99 deviantart
My favorite creepy doggo story. Much better than Smiledog.
