I've seen every one of your movies, you are an absolute genius,

The Hills Have Eyes is a masterpiece and I am honored that you liked my story The Long List. I just wanted to let you know that another story of mine Nightingale has been nominated for Pasta of The Month. It is a period piece that takes place in a 1910 whorehouse. I put a lot of research and love into it. If you get a chance check it out. Thanks so much. HumboldtLycanthrope (talk) 22:00, June 14, 2015 (UTC)

Warning! Unfinished Page

Please don't contribute unfinished pages. We get a lot of these, and almost none of them are EVER finished in a timely manner. Your unfinished page has been deleted. I'd suggest you post unfinished pages on your own computer in a notepad or other text document, or if it isn't your own computer that you're using, to save the text on Pastebin so you can access it later. Posting an unfinished page again will result in a block.

Hey, I noticed you linked to a couple of 'pastas on your profile page using full URLs. To make shorter, more readable links, you can just wrap the title of the page in double, square brackets. So, 1999 would be linked to as [[1999]], producing 1999. The same goes for the other links on your profile (NoEnd House = [[NoEnd House]], The Rake = [[The Rake]], etc).

Genre Listing Message 2

You recently added categories to a page that cannot be added together. Please check the Genre Listing and observe specific rules number one. Let me know if you need help with anything.

This edit is where you added "Monsters" and "Demon/Devil". Those are mutually exclusive categories. As I have not read your story, and it is relatively long, I don't plan on changing this for you soon. Please remove one of those categories.

Contest entry

Hey Wes,

Awesome, thanks for entering. Go ahead and add the header at the top showing that it is part of the contest, something like:

This is my entry to the June/July Demon Contest.

Thanks for entering and best of luck!

Tom had to enlighten me on this. It has to do with recent popularity, but as far as the exact parameters of how it works, I'm afraid I'm unsure. Regardless of the specifics, it's a good thing if your story is there.

Jay Ten (talk) 17:26, June 28, 2015 (UTC)

Hi Jake

Thanks for the kind comment.

I read your story 'From Hell I Write' briefly, though I didn't have much time as I have to get ready for school now. I enjoyed the description and the narrator's reactions seemed realistic. A suggestion would be to space your story out more using paragraphs, as the paragraphs in the story look slightly cramped. It would make it easier for the reader. Very good luck in the contest.

--Mmpratt99 deviantart (talk) 01:29, July 3, 2015 (UTC)

I just noticed on your user page that you have links that could be made to look better if you want. Simply type the title of the story (if it's hosted on this wiki) inside double brackets like this [[From Hell I Write]] and it will look like this From Hell I Write. Make sure the title is spelled/punctuated/capitalized exactly as it is listed, or it won't work. And you can also clean up links to outside sources by putting them in single brackets and putting a space at the end of the link then typing how you want it to show up. Example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH8Z6eHZb6w Box 21] would look like this Box 21

Just thought you might like to know that. If you need any help, always feel free to ask.

Hey Jake! I'll email you as soon as I find the right time. Life has been throwing stuff at me lately, and sometimes laziness takes its hit, but expect to receive the email. I haven't abandoned you yet...

And I've already made some progress. It would be a shame if I leave it for good.

You should set this as your profile picture. It's some kind of a promotional image I came up with (check mine), for Where the Children Go. And you know who she is, anyway... that witch.

Dear Jake Wick

The User RuckusQuantum suggested I should ask you for writing advice since you have already written a novel/novella and short story collection/anthology. I was wondering if you do critiques on other people's work. If you do, I would like you to do a critique on a new short story I just uploaded to Writer's Workshop> 2412 E Cochran Rd Maybe if you have the time, you could give some feedback on how I could improve this further.

RE: Dear Jake Wick

Thank you so much for looking over my latest work--2412 E Cochran Rd. Wow! I didn't know about a bit of Guillermo Del Toro vibe going here. I'm trying to follow your advice about putting in more of a buildup and suspense here. I seemed to think my monsters have more of a M. R. James influence than Guillermo Del Toro; I've only seen three of his movies--Mimic and Cronus, and one where he did the screenplay--Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. Maybe I can have the Lisa character have a momentary vision/hallucination where she sees the original bathroom before it got remodeled and then she sees the creature's hand slowing pulling open the shower curtain.

New Edit for 2412 E Cochran Rd

I have updated the original thread by completely editing the original story. I was wondering if I should include the original story with the new edit?

A Heads-Up

I'd refrain from making small edits (like adding a single space on the end of a paragraph) to stories as it comes off like pointsgaming which is against site rules. Looking at the history of that page, it seems like a common occurrence. If you're looking to draw more attention to your story, I'd suggest responding to comments and maybe messaging the people who read it to link them other stories they might enjoy. EmpyrealInvective (talk) 17:41, July 7, 2018 (UTC)

Please refrain from spamming pointless edits such as adding or removing single spaces.  Doing so floods the Recent Activity page.  Also please do not nominate your own stories for Pasta of the Month.  This is against the rules.  Thank you.

ClericofMadness (talk) 17:51, July 10, 2018 (UTC)

Hey Jake,

Just letting you know, I recently reverted your edit to The Mummy's Voice where you added the monsters category. Unfortunately, according to the rules on categories, the Ghosts and Monsters categories are mutually exclusive, and can't both be added to the same page. If you think monsters better fits the story, you should remove the ghost category first. Sorry for the inconvenience!

PotM Voting / Multiple Accounts

Hi Jake Wick. I am afraid we have determined you are using multiple accounts to nominate your stories for Pasta of the Month. Your other accounts are Turbocharged11 and Yingyangmonkey. According to our Account Policy, this is not allowed. You have been banned until the 21st of September and your other accounts have been blocked indefinitely. If after your return you continue using multiple accounts, the ban will be increased.

If you feel this is a wrongful block, you can contest this by sending me an email at mrdupincp@gmail.com. MrDupin (talk) 16:40, August 11, 2018 (UTC)

Greetings, you may find my story here. I admit the description of the protagonist is at least somewhat inspired by that of the creature in your story. I'm honored that you've taken an interest!

Re: Banned User

First and foremost, I'm sorry that you've had this experience. Unfortunately this kind of behavior has become commonplace on the internet. That being said, I took his actions into account and acted in a way that I felt best suited the situation for the time being. Given that I am currently researching their activity on other wikis this may change. As you are the one calling for their ban after engaging in an incredibly heated argument where you both exchanged insults without much in way of restraint, I am choosing to weigh your words judiciously. I'm going to put in time to fully evaluate the situation before I decide how to best proceed (whether that results in a lengthier ban or not).

While I understand that you are angry with their attack on your story, I do not think it justifies a ban that would be three times the amount for abusing multiple accounts (a leniency which was given to you in regards to your PotM-socking) especially given the fact that their mention of an I.P. could be in reference to I.P. evasion and vandalism as they belong to a wiki that just recently engaged in that behavior. I am going to look over everything before jumping into a situation without the full context. In the meantime, I would suggest reflecting on ways to deescalate situations rather than outright attacking people on the internet due to their opinions because unfortunately the internet is full of people who will make these claims and being incendiary is likely to increase the likelihood of this happening. EmpyrealInvective (talk) 20:32, December 16, 2018 (UTC)

Given that I mentioned the nebulousness of their claims above ("their mention of an I.P. could be in reference to I.P. evasion and vandalism as they belong to a wiki that just recently engaged in that behavior"), I am not going to re-state it. I did review their behavior on other sites and have extended the ban, but I think banning someone over their perceived worth is an incredibly flawed approach to a situation and would result in a lot of subjectivism and make for a slippery slope.

If you feel like you are being threatened, I would strongly suggest taking the matter to Staff. I've tried to react impartially and have even passed this information along to the founder so that they can weigh in if they feel I was incorrect. As for messaging staff, I would make sure to provide a link to the full conversation so they can also weigh in on it and decide for themselves if they feel the matter was the result of a heated exchange or a legitimate threat (I'll likely include that link to the founder of this wiki so that he can readily share this information if/when Staff becomes involved). However, I really don't think their response would vary wildly from mine after having had the time to put in more legwork. EmpyrealInvective (talk) 21:07, December 16, 2018 (UTC)

A Heads-Up

I've noticed that you have not been properly using the writer's showcase template (outlined in the forum rules). As such, your posts were not being featured on the front page as per our coding/templates. A few users have been correcting your posts in the past, but I would suggest learning the format so your stories can be properly featured. EmpyrealInvective (talk) 17:43, February 20, 2019 (UTC)

Story deletion

Your story has been deleted because it doesn't meet the wiki's quality standards. If you feel that it did meet the standards, please state your case on Deletion Appeal. Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter there, or your appeal will be automatically denied.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REUPLOAD YOUR PASTA. If you upload it again, you'll receive a 1-day ban from editing, as per the rules.

Read the Deletion FAQ and our Style Guide for Writing for details on the 'what' and 'why' of the deletions we make.

Read this guide and these blog posts for further details on how you can improve your story/stories to make them meet our quality standards.

For additional help, submit your story to the Writer's Workshop for feedback.

I'm sorry, but this theory feels incredibly rushed with very little evidence to back it up. Add onto that the brief nature of the post at a few sentences and this ends up feeling like something that was written without a lot put into the execution of the premise. EmpyrealInvective (talk) 19:25, February 23, 2019 (UTC)

The community did, by unanimous vote (on multiple occasions) due to the fact I've been present in the community for a long time, have reviewed the quality of hundreds of stories, provided helpful feedback, and have enough experience to recognize flaws in theory stories.
As for me not caring for your story, there was too little content in the theory itself to really form any opinion other than, "this needs work". Using the logic you presented in the story, any tv show has a secret dark aspect if they feature a series of revolving characters. Finally, in the cliches link on the quality standards page, it directly lists the issue present in your theory: "Lack of evidence to back-up your theories. Not a cliché, just saying, it doesn't make a good story if the concept appears like it wasn't thought out or well-written." As I've already written a lengthy response on the deletion appeal, I'm not going to go into too much more detail re-stating issues. EmpyrealInvective (talk) 20:06, February 23, 2019 (UTC)
The issues I pointed out were things that were directly listed by people in the community as indicative of stories that tend to fall below our quality standards. Feel free to message another admin or take it to the writer's workshop if you feel like you need a second opinion. EmpyrealInvective (talk) 21:12, February 23, 2019 (UTC)

I would strongly suggest checking the site rules before you go about editing other user's messages (hint: it's considered vandalism). Please read our guidelines and follow our rules as you're likely to receive a temporary ban if you fail to follow them. EmpyrealInvective (talk) 01:20, February 25, 2019 (UTC)

I know tone is hard to read across the internet, but on this I feel as though you are not acting in good faith. Please take a moment to reflect on your actions. This is not him lording over you. Independent of whatever is going on here (as I am vaguely aware of what is happening and normally would not intervene in such a case), I can clearly see you have edited that talk page message as an act of vandalism and it was a clear bad faith edit. Please refrain from willingly violating the rules here and instead focus on making useful edits and striving to better your writing as a result of the feedback received. If there is a problem with the admins here, please feel free to contact me, but in the future please refrain from editing users' talk page messages to make them seem like they are saying something they are not. It's poor form and an easy spot as having been forged thanks to the edit history. Thank you. ClericofMadness (talk) 01:32, February 25, 2019 (UTC)
