RE: Your Story

Hi Sandra. I understand you may be confused about the Jeff rule, but here are some things to keep in mind:

1. The Jeff rule is not really something that is governed by strictly letter-of-the-law interpretation.

A story does not have to be a blatant knockoff of Jeff the Killer in order to violate the Jeff rule. Even if it was not actually inspired by Jeff the Killer, if it hits certain cliches exemplified by Jeff the Killer then it may still transgress the rule.

In your case, "Don't Sleep, Think of Me" is the type of story covered in Addendum 2 of the rule, which addresses stories that are different in some ways from Jeff the Killer but are still problematic for the same reasons Jeff the Killer was. Here is what that addendum says:

Yes, now it counts as a Jeff knockoff if they were crazy to begin with don't mutilate themselves, and/or have no superpowers, too, as long as it follows the aforementioned "Jeff Formula" (person is wronged or becomes jealous, becomes serial killer.)

Remember, the point of the Jeff Rule is only half about banning people from posting Jeff fanfiction or blatant Jeff knockoffs. The other half is to prevent stories from being kept on the wiki that have the problems and cliches Jeff the Killer exemplified, even if they are different in some ways. Jeff the Killer is just a benchmark to compare, but your story doesn't have to be exactly like Jeff the Killer or even as bad as Jeff the Killer to transgress the rule.

2. Even if "Don't Sleep, Think of Me" is not judged to directly violate the Jeff Rule, it is still likely to be deleted for falling below general quality standards.

In other words, even ignoring any similarities to Jeff the Killer, your story is still highly cliched and unoriginal in such a way that it will probably be deleted regardless.
